What is gfci?

A GFCI receptacle is different from conventional receptacles. In the event of a ground fault, a GFCI will trip and quickly stop the flow of electricity to prevent serious injury.
A GFCI receptacle does NOT protect against circuit overloads, short circuits, or shocks. If you have an outlet or outlets not working you should try to reset your GFCI first. GFCI’s are connected to other outlets throughout your house so they can affect each other. Example, most bathrooms are all connected on one GFCI. Multiple rooms can be connected to one GFCI. If a plug in your bedroom isn’t working, try resetting the GFCI in your bathroom.
